FAMILIA TRANS QUEER LIBERATION MOVEMENT

TQLM works at the national and local levels to achieve the collective liberation of LGBT Latin@s by leading an intergenerational movement through advocacy and education.

We are committed to the liberation of every LGBTQ Latin@ and to a radically and collective revolution to empower and free our culture, art, history and families from oppression. We seek to abolish the systems that imprison, kill and marginalize our people. We are here to help re-vision a new world founded on the principles of self-realization and self-determination.

CRITICAL RESISTANCE

Critical Resistance seeks to build an international movement to end the Prison Industrial Complex by challenging the belief that caging and controlling people makes us safe. We believe that basic necessities such as food, shelter, and freedom are what really make our communities secure. As such, our work is part of global struggles against inequality and powerlessness. The success of the movement requires that it reflect communities most affected by the PIC. Because we seek to abolish the PIC, we cannot support any work that extends its life or scope.

QUEER UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS PROJECT
The Queer Undocumented Immigrant Project (QUIP), a project of United We Dream, seeks to organize and empower LGBTQ undocumented people, LGBTQ immigrants and allies through grassroots organizing, leadership development, advocacy and engage in alliance building between the LGBTQ and immigrant rights movements in order to fight for the rights and dignity of both communities.

QUEER DETAINEE EMPOWERMENT PROJECT

The Queer Detainee Empowerment Project (QDEP), is an alternative to detention program (ATD) for queer/trans/HIV+ immigrant detainees, undocuments folks, and asylums seekers and their families in New York City. QDEP assists folks in securing structural, health/wellness, legal, and emotional support and services. QDEP works to advocate around the barriers that our members face as well around limitations due to immigration status, race, sexuality, and gender identity.  We are committed to assisting folks in building lives outside of the detention system, to keeping queer families together by demanding an end to deportations, and to queering dialog and work on immigration justice.

THE AUDRE LORDE PROJECT

The Audre Lorde Project is a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Two Spirit, Trans and Gender Non Conforming People of Color center for community organizing, focusing on the New York City area. Through mobilization, education and capacity-building, we work for community wellness and progressive social and economic justice. Committed to struggling across differences, we seek to responsibly reflect, represent and serve our various communities.
SAFE OUTSIDE THE SYSTEM- AUDRE LORDE PROJECT

The Safe OUTside the System (SOS) Collective is an anti-violence program led by and for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Two Spirit, Trans, and Gender Non Conforming people of color. We are devoted to challenging hate and police violence by using community based strategies rather than relying on the police.

TRANSJUSTICE- AUDRE LORDE PROJECT

TransJustice is a political group created by and for Trans and Gender Non-conforming people of color. TransJustice works to mobilize its communities and allies into action on the pressing political issues they face, including gaining access to jobs, housing, and education; the need for Trans-sensitive healthcare, HIV-related services, and job-training programs; resisting police, government and anti-immigrant violence.

SYLVIA RIVERA LAW PROJECT

The Sylvia Rivera Law Project (SRLP) works to guarantee that all people are free to self-determine their gender identity and expression, regardless of income or race, and without facing harassment, discrimination, or violence. SRLP is a collective organization founded on the understanding that gender self-determination is inextricably intertwined with racial, social and economic justice. Therefore, we seek to increase the political voice and visibility of low-income people and people of color who are transgender, intersex, or gender non-conforming. SRLP works to improve access to respectful and affirming social, health, and legal services for our communities. We believe that in order to create meaningful political participation and leadership, we must have access to basic means of survival and safety from violence.

FIERCE

FIERCE is a membership-based organization building the leadership and power of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) youth of color in New York City.  We develop politically conscious leaders who are invested in improving ourselves and our communities through youth-led campaigns, leadership development programs, and cultural expression through arts and media. FIERCE is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of social justice movement leaders who are dedicated to ending all forms of oppression.

QUEER SURVIVAL ECONOMIES

(might no longer exist)

BUILDING POLICY & PROGRAMS TO MAKE VISIBLE THE IMPACT OF THE RECESSION ON LGBTQ COMMUNITIES
Queer Survival Economies is an innovative initiative from Queers of Economic Justice that creates both policy and organizing initiatives broadly and intentionally connecting economic justice and the impacts of the recession on LGBTQ bodies and lives. Integral to this work is centering the most marginalized bodies at the core of the initiative: immigrant, HIV positive, transgender & gender non-conforming, low-income, homeless, elders, queer workers and people of color. Queer Survival Economies also builds intentional cross-community alliances, specifically with labor, economic policy think tanks,  immigrants rights organizers, and the Excluded Workers Congress. When fully developed, the Queer Survival Economies Initiative will help to realign the way in which organizing happens and is framed in the queer and trans community.
  • Economic and Public Policy Organizing
  • Capacity Building to Understand the Economy, the Recession and its impact on LGBTQ Immigrants, HIV Positive, Transgender/Gender Non-Conforming, Low Income, Elders, People of Color and Queer Workers with Community Education & Skills Sharing competence
  • Advocacy & Coalition Building with Progressive, Non-Queer Think Tanks and Economic Justice Organizations

TRANS*H4CK

We shift the ways trans*, gender non conforming, agender and non binary people live by creating technology that economically empowers, improves access to social services, promotes gender safety and community sustainability, while bringing visibility to trans* tech innovators and entrepreneurs.

TRANS BIRTH

Trans Birth is a directory, launched in 2014. It was inspired by the meeting of some trans and gender non-conforming folks who hope to birth babies in the near future, and need each other to find connections to health care providers who can assist us along the way.

Currently, we include providers from Canada, the US, and Mexico.
